LAUREL BURCH CAT
A Laurel Burch Cat is quite unique. Anyone who has any familiarity at all with her style can recognize one of her creations instantaneously. This self-taught artist expanded her design to coffee mugs, clothing, tote bags, prints, fabric, buttons and note cards through The Laurel Burch Design Studio. Laurel felt she was more of a folk artist than a designer. She was drawn to creating symbols and myths that communicate universally. Laurel's own values were represented in her paintings. but her designs also helped bridge the gap between cultures and honor the common ground. When asked about the purpose of her art, Laurel described it as her way of expressing beauty and meaning. Most of all, she wanted to connect people to one another in special ways. Laurel also contributed her talents to the community, supporting animal welfare, children, the disabled, disease prevention, and global conservation. The following mugs illustrate that Laurel Burch ceramics demonstrate her incredible talent in this area as in all her artistic endeavors.
