Growing up in rural South Carolina, Jim was the son of artistic parents. There, he came to love the traditional values found in American folk art. His grandmother was a master quilter who taught him an appreciation for the patience and skill required to bring complex designs to life.

Taking designs from quilting, rosemalling, applique and flat perspective folk art, Jim began to create his own intricate and colorful works of art that reflect our shared cultural heritage. His unique style, which combines folk art and vibrant colors applied to traditional themes, is unmistakably Jim Shore. The magic of his design style is that it can be applied to a large variety of themes and formats, creating a charming and innovative American country décor for the home.

Jim's success grew to the point that his creations were greatly in demand. He joined forces in 2000 with Enesco, a worldwide leader in marketing gifts, collectibles and decorative accessories, to create the Jim Shore line of seasonal and home accessories.
